Orion’s Quattro (aka “Q”) was born on April 4, 2004 (04/04/04) so I decided to name her Quattro. However, her name didn’t seem to roll of the tongue easily, so her call name became “Q”. Q’s mother was my great HR Orion’s Blazin’ Star CD. Star lived a long and storied life and has a very special place in my heart (see Orion’s Hall of Fame for more information on Star). Q’s sire was FtCh (Eng) Westlands Charlie, aka “Moss”. Moss was a British field bred Lab that was imported to the United States by the late William Kechkalo of Berrien Springs, Michigan. Moss was the high point British field trial dog in 1999 and he placed fourth in the International Gundog League championship that year (the IGL championship is Great Britain’s National field trial championship). Moss’s sire FtCh (Eng) Tasco's Dancing Brave of Willowyck won the IGL championship in 1990. Moss was an exceptional dog and I am grateful that Mr. Kechkaylo allowed me to bred Moss to Star.

Quattro is a bold aggressive dog, having taken after her American mother’s side of the family. She is a high energy dog, but she knows how to relax when the work is done and she is very affectionate. She didn’t begin her hunt test career until she was five years old. In spite of having a depth of experience hunting pheasant, she began in the UKC HRC Started category. She needed a chance to learn the odd ways of hunt tests. In the upland fields we have no judges, bird boys, wingers, gallery, or DUCKS! Neither have we had the opportunity to work with an HRC club during training days to get her accustomed to these things. In spite of the newness of the game she has earned her SHR title and her HR title. Q has passed every test in which she has run, except one.
