Orion’s Wingmaster, aka Remi, is a beautiful young Labrador who shows unlimited potential. She is by 4xGMPR HRCH HRK’s Rooster Smasher of TGK MH out of my HR Orion’s Bold Huntress (Tess). Rooster is a very accomplished dog who’s earned advanced titles in AKC hunt tests, UKC hunt tests, and APLA hunt tests; he is Qualified All-Age (QAA) in AKC field trials placing first in his only Qualifying stake, and he passed the UKC HRC 2012 fall International Grand Hunt Test. As if these accomplishments aren’t enough, Rooster is a very handsome dog with classic Labrador conformation and a wonderful temperament. Remi’s mother Tess is also an exceptional Labrador. For information about Tess please see her page on this website. Here’s a link to Rooster’s webpage in case you’d like to find out more about him.

Remi has tons of drive which is tempered by a tremendous desire to please. Remi is very biddable and picks up her lessons quickly with very little pressure, yet she tolerates a reprimand without holding a grudge or sulking. She’s a great marker with the determination to dig out the tough retrieves. Remi moves effortlessly in the uplands, negotiating tough cover and terrain with ease thanks to her well balanced, sound physical conformation. She’s also a natural water dog complete with a dense undercoat and true otter tail which you can see in some of her pictures below.

When a mating “nicks” most of the offspring from that litter excel and this seems to be the case with Remi’s littermates. Her brother Avery earned his AKC Junior Hunter title before he was a year of age while training with his owner Tyler Radke, who had never trained a retriever before he got Avery. Another of Remi’s brothers, Orion’s Ready for Take Off (aka Pilot), is training under the direction of his owner Pam Johnson. Pam has years of experience training for AKC Obedience, Agility, and her current obsession, AKC Tracking. She’s thrilled with the promise Pilot shows and has proclaimed him the perfect dog for her needs. I believe the accomplishments of Remi’s young siblings support my belief in her superior genetics and the promise of her future offspring.

Remi is poised to take her mother’s place as Orion’s next brood bitch. Soon she’ll have additional physical and genetic health screenings to insure her breeding soundness. She’s already crossed many hurdles on her way to earning the honor of carrying on the Orion bloodline. Last hunting season she proved her worth in the field as she developed the skills needed to hunt wild pheasants effectively. She’s passed four of four UKC Started hunt tests in which she’s run. This fall she’ll be running UKC Seasoned hunt tests with expectations of earning her Hunting Retriever title (HR). I have no doubt she will live up to her name and become Master of the wings and the wingers!
